How do tourists and locals feel about the beloved park after a month of shutdown? Photographer Ian Tuttle asked around.
Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park
Thanks to a $83,500 grant from the Delta Air Lines Foundation and also park fee revenues, the National Park Service plans to reopen MLK Jr. NHP in Atlanta for 16 days which allows for people to visit in advance of Monday's holiday and people traveling for the Super Bowl on February 3 as well.
"This is yet another example of private organizations stepping up to ensure that our visitors from across the nation and around the world are able to have a meaningful experience at national parks," said David L. Bernhardt, acting secretary of the Interior.
In a statement, Delta CEO and trustee of the Delta Air Lines Foundation Ed Bastian said the group "felt it was important we do our part to ensure that the historical landmarks be accessible to the public." "Dr. King was about bringing people together and at Delta, we are about making the world a smaller place," he added. Many of the civil rights movement historical sites of the National Park Service are completely closed during the shutdown. This includes the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C., Selma-to-Montgomery March interpretive centers, the Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site, and Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site.

Maybe the left will one day stop trying desperately to destroy my family and especially @realDonaldTrump. Till then they will keep failing miserably while also undermining themselves and our democracy.— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 19, 2019
Curt Schilling deserves to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Great record, especially when under pressure and when it mattered most. Do what everyone in Baseball knows is right! @marklevinshow— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 21, 2019
